September 23, 2022 (MLN): Amid lack of fresh triggers, market witnessed range bound activity throughout the day today, leading the benchmark KSE100 index to close at 40,620 level, down by 308 points or 0.75% DoD.

The index opened on a positive note and gained to make an intraday high of 201 points but soon came under selling pressure.

This can be attributed to weak sentiment and increase in Pakistan International Bond appeals for debt relief and urges more help from the global community in light of recent devastation caused by floods, analyst at Topline Securities said.

The Index traded in a range of 616.01 points or 1.51 percent of previous close, showing an intraday high of 41,132.11 and a low of 40,516.10.

Of the 90 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 26 closed up 60 closed down, while 4 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 90.94 million shares.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Commercial Banks with 111 points, Cement with 44 points, Power Generation & Distribution with 36 points, Technology & Communication with 31 points and Fertilizer with 30 points.

The most points taken off the index was by MEBL which stripped the index of 44 points followed by ENGRO with 35 points, LUCK with 25 points, HUBC with 23 points and BAHL with 22 points.

Sectors propping up the index were Automobile Assembler with 15 points, Property with 6 points, Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 5 points, Engineering with 4 points and Paper & Board with 2 points.

The most points added to the index was by MTL which contributed 17 points followed by DGKC with 7 points, DAWH with 7 points, EFERT with 6 points and JVDC with 6 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 24.80 Million to 165.29 Million Shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs.32.54 Billion.

Total companies traded were 314 compared to 328 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 106 closed up, 176 closed down while 32 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 5,510 to 89,966.

Value Traded increased by 0.55 Billion to Rs.6.87 Billion
